Pylori. The purpose of the present study was to studied H. pylori eradication in the treatment of chronic urticaria in comparison with classic treatment on two treatment groups. Materials & Methods: participants were 120 Chronic Urticaria patients with H. Pylori infected and positive Urease Breath Test (UBT) who refer to Quaem Hospital in Mashhad. Participants were randomly assigned two groups, control group received classic treatment of Urticaria (H1 & H2 Blockers) and investigation group was additional treatment by triple drug therapy (20 mg of Robeprazole twice daily, 500 mg of Clarithromycin twice daily, and 1gr of Amoxicillin twice daily during 14 days). Within one, three & six months after therapy symptoms were separately analyzed in two groups by using urticaria severity score. Results: As to the age factor, no significant difference was found (P-value: 0.863). However, the average age with regard to gender, was significantly higher in men (P-value: 0.006).The majority of patients who had been exposed to combination drug treatment, were significantly better cured than the group exposed to classic treatment lonely (P-value < 0.001) and many components of urticaria severity score showed better improvement respectively (P-value < 0.001). Conclusions: Addition of this treatment for eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with chronic urticaria, could be more effective than the classic H1and H2 blockers alone for resolution of symptoms.  }, keywords = {Chronic urticairia,H1&H2 blockers,Helicobacter pylori,Triple drug therapy}, url = {https://psj.mums.ac.ir/article_11180.html}, eprint = {https://psj.mums.ac.ir/article_11180_9e18e80b3a627165888c1545252f2a63.pdf} } @article { author = {Kafashpoor, Azar and Navabi Zand, Kambiz and Hosseini, Seyed Hasan}, title = {The Effect of Psychological Capital on Quality of Work life given the Modifying Role of Job Stress}, journal = {Journal of Patient Safety & Quality Improvement}, volume = {6}, number = {2}, pages = {0-0}, year = {2018}, publisher = {Mashhad University of Medical Sciences}, issn = {2345-4482}, eissn = {2345-4490}, doi = {10.22038/psj.2018.10729}, abstract = {There has been a growing interest among scholars in intangible organizational capitals in recent years. Present research is primarily concerned with investigating the relationship of psychological capital with quality of work life and the modifying effect of job stress on the relationship between the first two variables. The required data was collected in the winter of 2016 through the distributed questionnaires among employees of Nilpar Companies operating in the office chair and furniture industry, based on stratified sampling. Because of limited number of the population (435), to determine the sample size, the Cochran formula in limited population was used. Then, based on the sample size and convenience sampling, the questionnaires were distributed. Finally, from the collected questionnaires, 204 thereof were considered valid and used in subsequent analyses. To examine the relationship between the variables by test of the hypotheses, multivariate regression and structural equation modeling (path analysis) were performed. The results suggested that at 95 percent confidence there was a positive and statistically significant relationship between psychological capital and quality of work life. In addition, a negative and statistically significant relationship was found that job stress was negatively correlated to psychological capital and quality of work life which was significant in both instances.}, keywords = {Job Stress,Psychological capital,Quality of work life}, url = {https://psj.mums.ac.ir/article_10729.html}, eprint = {} } @article { author = {Mamaghani-Ghazijahani, Mohammad-Reza and Jangjoo, Ali and Ansari-Astaneh, Mohammad-Reza}, title = {Characteristics of the Thoracic and Abdominal Trauma in Taleghani Hospital, Mashhad, Iran}, journal = {Journal of Patient Safety & Quality Improvement}, volume = {6}, number = {2}, pages = {0-0}, year = {2018}, publisher = {Mashhad University of Medical Sciences}, issn = {2345-4482}, eissn = {2345-4490}, doi = {10.22038/psj.2018.10730}, abstract = {Introduction: To evaluate the characteristics of thoracic and abdominal trauma in patients referred to Taleghani trauma center of Mashhad, Iran during a period of 6 months.  Materials and Methods: In a retrospective cross-sectional study the recoded data of inpatient cases who admitted because of thoracic or abdominal trauma in March to September 2017 were evaluated. There is increase in the number of complaints and inconsistency in the complaint handling. According to the Secretary of State for Health’s statement to the parliament standing committee, “there are 12,000 avoidable hospital deaths every year. More than 10,000 serious incidents are reported to NHS England, out of a total of 1.4 million mostly low-harm or no-harm incidents annually. There were 338 recorded “never events” (such as wrong site surgery) during 2013-14 and NHS England received 174,872 written complaints. The NHS Litigation Authority’s latest estimate of clinical negligence liabilities is £26.1 billion. The cost of the Francis Inquiry into the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust was £13.6 million."  Good quality complaints handling is an indicator of continuous improvement in the quality and safety of health care. The objective of this review was to analyse whether the current NHS complaint handling system is fit for the purpose.  Materials & Methods:  A narrative review of the relevant literature known to the author was conducted. Conclusion: Whilst the Government has brought major changes in the complaint handling process of NHS, the patients are still dissatisfied with the current process. A structured questionnaire with open-ended and closed-ended questions was designed to gather information relating to participants' demographic characteristics such as: gender, age, educational status and occupation, as well as their awareness and attitude toward refractive correction methods (Spectacles, Contact lenses and Refractive surgery). Overall 39% of participants had clear perceptions of 'ophthalmologist' and 'optometrist' terms. Considerable percentages of 80.3%, 87% and 71% of respondents had no information of contact lens application instead of spectacles, cosmetic contact lenses and contact lenses with both refractive correction and cosmetic properties, respectively. 82.5% of participants were not aware that they could do refractive surgery to improve their eyesight and decrease depending on spectacles. Awareness about contact lens and refractive surgery adverse side effects stood at the minimum percentages of only 16% and 8%, respectively.Awareness and perception about refractive correction methods are low among the participants of this study. Although, ophthalmologists are the first source of consultation among respondents on their sight impairments, a predominant percentage of subjects are not aware of even noticeable differences between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist.
